Funders In Good came together to respond to several challenges faced by the Muslim community here in the UK.

 

The core challenge is that of faith itself. According to the latest census, there has been a 15% increase in people who do not have a religion in the last decade. That’s 4 in 10 people who have no faith. We shouldn't assume that we are immune to the effects of this national trend.

As a community of believers we have an opportunity and indeed a duty to be the voice of faith. Furthermore, we must urgently increase our efforts to solve our most pressing problems, such as a lack of inspiring and relevant faith-based education, insufficient services for our youth, and growing anti-Muslim prejudice in wider society. 

​A vital component of any flourishing community are groups of people within it, who come together around a specific purpose which serves that community and what it stands for; these are our social ventures. They act as the institutions and pillars of the community which give it identity, confidence, and grounding.

Investing in these local ventures is critical. This must include building their capacity so that both ourselves and future generations can flourish as believers. By doing this we will honour the efforts of our elders, who responded to the needs of their time, and continue to build on them.
